9th Annual BCE Fall Whitewater Triathlon
(and the first qualifier for the 1st Annual Potomac Ironman Triathlon)
When and Where
Sunday, November 2 at 8 AM at the Brookmont Church on Broad St. off
Maryland Ave. and MacArthur Blvd. in Bethesda. (If the Potomac Little
Falls gauge is 5 feet or higher, the date will change to Sunday, November 9 --
so please call the CCA (301-656-2586) or BRV hotlines for more details as November
approaches.
How and What
Bike 4 miles, run 3 miles, and canoe/kayak 2 miles down Little Falls'
class III-IV whitewater to Chain Bridge (which doubles as a finish line
and a great view for spectators, especially with binoculars).
Who
Any individual who wishes to compete in all 3 events and has a solid
river roll
-or-
any combination of 3 people to complete each leg of the triathlon as
a relay team.
Why
For the FUN of it!

to qualify for the 1st Annual "Potomac Ironman" Triathlon as one of
the top 10 finishers in one of the five divisions - Male: under 25, 25-35,
35+; Female: all ages; Relay Teams: all ages.

What is the Potomac Ironman?
It will be a summertime 1998 race: 12 mile bike, 5 mile run, and 4 mile
paddle up through slalom gates, down through whitewater, and up through
flatwater to a televised finish that only qualified participants may
compete in.
